It is the biggest scattered settlement in the county. The Fort of Tartód, atop Fort Hill (845m), was built in the eleventh century, but was abandoned in the thirteenth century and is now surrounded by stone wall ruins.
”On Castle Hill, where the stream of Tartod meets the Küküllő, a long, long time ago the Fort of Tartod used to stand. It was a strong fort, but it was mainly famous for the treasures that were piled up in the caves beneath it. Many a young men had tried to bring the treasures up, but no one was successful with it.”
