The town lies at the upper end of the Giurgeu Basin, at the foot of the Tarnița Mountain (1044 m). The wooden church in Moglănești dates back to 1658 and is the oldest monument in the town Gheorge Ștefan, Prince of Moldova, had it erected for his wife. The Orthodox church, built from spruce in 1867, is a registered church monument.
